- Ultrasound
- Fine-needle aspiration (to confirm fluid content)
Treatment
- Aspiration of the fluid to relieve symptoms
- leave untreated if not bothersome
- Surgical removal may be considered in rare cases
Risk Factors
- Hormonal changes, especially in premenopausal women
- Sometimes hormone therapy
Importance of Timely Treatment
Though often benign(not dangerous), but recurring cysts or changes in cysts should be monitored for underlying pathology.
