Symptoms

Diagnosis

  • Physical examination
  • Ultrasound
  • Fine-needle aspiration (to confirm fluid content)

Treatment

  • Aspiration of the fluid to relieve symptoms
  • leave untreated if not bothersome
  • Surgical removal may be considered in rare cases

Risk Factors

  • Hormonal changes, especially in premenopausal women
  • Sometimes hormone therapy

Importance of Timely Treatment

Though often benign(not dangerous), but recurring cysts or changes in cysts should be monitored for underlying pathology.
